If you are often confused about what to do when it comes to carbs and keeping a lean figure, this great article from Weight Watchers might answer some of your questions.
The main take aways::
– look for whole wheat as the first ingredient – if it is white, enriched or simply wheat flour, this means the grain has been processed to the point of no return – no nutrients remain!
– sprouted bread is a great safe choice for a grain with all nutrients intact, and a complete source of protein.
– if looking at multigrain bread, since the grains are from different sources, look for at least 16 grams of whole grain per serving.
– as always, look for the shortest and simplest ingredient list
Don’t cut carbs completely, cut the bad carbs!
